Our warranty provides cover for your vehicle’s components from mechanical, breakdown or electrical failure. Servicing of the vehicle is not covered.
We cover up to 38 components on our warranty, including your engine, gearbox, differential and much more. Depending on your needs and plan specifications, the individual cover limits available on each component will be available in your policy’s schedule of benefits, found on the last page of your policy wording.
Yes, all vehicles must undergo an approved administrator’s inspection.
If your vehicle comes with a full-service history, your vehicle must continue to be serviced as per the manufacturer’s recommendation at any RMI approved workshop or dealership.
If your vehicle does not have a full-service history, the vehicle must be serviced within 30 days of the warranty purchase and service history must be updated. If a major service is missed, it must be completed. The vehicle must then be serviced according to the manufacturer’s recommendation. All service documentation must be retained and submitted to the administrator for any claims under your policy. Failure to do so may result in the repair not being accepted.
Stop the use of the vehicle immediately, contact the Roadside Assistance (Dial: 010 211 5725) and have your vehicle towed to your nearest RMI approved repairer. Thereafter, inform the repairer that you have a warranty with Warranty Direct and visit our How To Claim page to submit your claim.
A warranty covers the repair or replacement of certain components of your vehicle should they fail suddenly or unexpectedly within a specific period of time. These components will be repaired or replaced up to your specified cover limits. A service plan, on the other hand, covers the costs of the regular servicing of your vehicle as outlined by the manufacturer. This may include things like oil changes, tyre rotations, and other routine service items. A service plan ensures that your vehicle is running in top condition at all times.
It is important to note that a warranty and a service plan are two separate products, and a warranty won’t cover regular service items, just as a service plan won’t cover sudden or unforeseen breakdowns.
A mechanical failure is defined as the breaking or burning of your vehicle’s components without being acted upon by foreign objects, foreign matter or an external force.
Our warranty has a cover duration of either 12 or 24 months, depending on your needs and specifications and will be outlined in your policy schedule once purchased. All benefits on our warranty will cease once the vehicle reaches 300 000km or 20-years of age.
When your vehicle is traded in or in the hands of a Motor Dealer for the purpose of selling the vehicle, the policy will be considered cancelled and all benefits will cease immediately. If you sell the vehicle privately, the policy will also be considered cancelled.
Vehicles that wish to be covered with our warranty must be passenger vehicles, 4×4’s or light commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle mass of less than 4 000kg. We don’t cover the following vehicle types and uses modified vehicles, vehicles that partake in motoring competitions, rebuild and Code 3 vehicles, emergency service, towing or hired vehicles.
